Self Help Groups.
WOMEN bear most of the responsibility for holding societies together, be it at home, school, in healthcare or caring for the elderly. They perform all these tasks, usually without pay. Yet, even when the work is carried out by professionals, those professions tend to be dominated by women who get less paid than male-dominated professions.
It’s human nature to search for a silver lining even amid this pandemic. Humans need hope. Some sectors have proved resilient even in these challenging times. The sturdiest among these is the self-help group (SHG) movement in India, which is one of the most powerful incubators of female resilience and entrepreneurship in urban areas. It is a powerful channel for altering the social construct of gender in villages.

Small-scale items, cottage industry items, handicrafts and items from self-help groups will be available in these Haat Bazaars. Urban entrepreneurs, who will sell their products at the Haat Bazaar, will be offered basic facilities like dining, cooking and lodging at the Haat Bazaar. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to hold various cultural programs at the amphitheaters in these Haats. We can serve as a powerful platform for women to come together, and voice their demands on varied issues. Today, SHGs are able to offer solutions regarding livelihood, literacy, health, mobility, rights, and other socio-political issues. A step at a time, these urban women are challenging the traditional notions of womanhood, taking charge of their financial well-being and creating a grassroots movement. Haat bazaars are conducted on a regular basis, i.e or that is once, twice, or three times a week and in some places every two weeks. At times, Haat bazaars are organized in a different manner, to support or promote trading by and with urban people.
